The everyday object of a chair carries profound symbolic meaning. It can represent authority, as in the case of a throne, assist human mobility, as with a wheelchair, or even serve as an instrument of death, like the electric chair. In this way, through its relationship with society and the human body, the chair embodies cultural depth and facilitates human interaction by enabling people to sit and face each other.
This foam-expanded chair and table set embodies the concept of the “void” hidden within visible materials. It challenges the perception of solidity while exploring the interplay between form, function, and symbolism. Furthermore, it reflects the idea that all things and events in this world, mind and body, self and others, essence and phenomenon, exist through interrelationships, and that nothing can continue to exist independently.
