When we shift our awareness to the space between the seen and unseen, light and shadow, substance and void—how do we perceive existence itself? This exhibition offers an opportunity to witness the moment when the contours of things melt away and to consider the essence of “emptiness” that transcends form. The installation artwork Oboro projects the cyclical waxing and waning of the moon—both a natural rhythm and a symbol of impermanence—onto delicate layers of mist, revealing the ambiguity of substance and perception. Positioned as the "concave" element within the exhibition, Oboro is juxtaposed with the painting From the Dark Side of the Moon, which renders the unseen far side of the moon as a "convex" presence, illuminating the existence that dwells within shadows. The sculpture Void questions the nature of material existence by engaging with familiar forms such as chairs and tables, while the painting Apoptosis explores the transformation and dissolution of life processes within both biological and cosmic flows, rendering the dynamic interplay between order and chaos visible. Matter and phenomena are not fixed entities, but continuously emerge within changing conditions, forming temporary structures through their interdependence. The configuration may appear as a process of formation or dissolution, yet no single direction is determined; both coexist within the same state. The work consists of heated silicone oil in which convective patterns continuously appear, transform, and dissolve. The visible structures are not composed manually, but arise through relations between heat, gravity, viscosity, and movement. The title refers both to physical “phases” of matter and to transitional states more broadly. Rather than presenting a stable image, the work remains in continuous fluctuation, where order and instability coexist. What appears is never permanent, but temporarily sustained through dynamic equilibrium. In this work, form is understood not as something autonomous, but as a phenomenon that emerges conditionally and disappears again.
